Established in May 1998, BRUT is majority owned by Automated Securities
Clearance Ltd. (ASC). ASC operates BRASS (Brokerage Real-Time Application
Support System). BRUT and ASC are operating units of SunGard Data
Systems Inc. BRASS serves more than 3000 desktop terminals in roughly
175 brokerage firms representing over 50% of Nasdaq volume. Maintaining
minority equity interests in the BRUT ECN are: Bear Stearns, Goldman
Sachs, Herzog Heine Geduld, Inc., Knight-Trimark Group, Lehman Brothers,
Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Salomon Smith Barney.
In February 2000, BRUT completed a merger of equals with Strike Technologies
(Strike description below). The new entity is known as Brut ECN.

NexTrade officially applied with the SEC to become a registered, fully-electronic,
