The Track ECN, a division of Track Data Securities Corp., is wholly owned by Track Data Corporation. Track Data is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq NMS: TRAC) that has been in the financial services business since 1981. Track Data employs over 300 people. The firm is headquartered in New York City and has offices in Boca Raton, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and London. Over half of the 100 largest brokerage firms in the United States are Track Data customers.

The Archipelago Exchange (ArcaEx®) is the first totally open all-electronic stock exchange to trade in all exchange listed stocks, including New York Stock Exchange®, Nasdaq®, American Stock Exchange® and Pacific Exchange® securities. ArcaEx offers corporate issuers and investors the advantages of meeting directly, without intermediaries within a fully electronic and totally transparent environment. ArcaEx is a facility of and regulated by the PCX, a registered exchange. ArcaEx was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission in October 2001 and ArcaEx began trading operations in March 2002. Owned and operated by Bloomberg LP and launched as an agency only broker in 1996, Bloomberg Tradebook entered the ECN arena in 1999. It is available to institutional equity traders, agency brokers and market makers. Bloomberg TRADEBOOK represents orders in the National Quote Montage and interacts with general order flow across the Nasdaq system or specifically accesses liquidity from individual market makers or ECNs.

  The Brass Utility, LLC (BRUT)

Established in May 1998, BRUT is majority owned by Automated Securities Clearance Ltd. (ASC). ASC operates BRASS (Brokerage Real-Time Application Support System). BRUT and ASC are operating units of SunGard Data Systems Inc. BRASS serves more than 3000 desktop terminals in roughly 175 brokerage firms representing over 50% of Nasdaq volume. Maintaining minority equity interests in the BRUT ECN are: Bear Stearns, Goldman Sachs, Herzog Heine Geduld, Inc., Knight-Trimark Group, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Salomon Smith Barney. In February 2000, BRUT completed a merger of equals with Strike Technologies (Strike description below). The new entity is known as Brut ECN.

  Strike Technologies, LLC
As we stated previously, Strike Technologies merged with BRUT in February 2000. Strike was backed by a consortium of 24 Wall Street and technology firms. Strike's users include major broker-dealers, market makers and institutions.

Introduced in February 1998 by its majority owner, All-Tech Investment Group, Inc., ATTAIN ECN is a broker-dealer specializing in direct access electronic trading. All-Tech serves clients who trade their own accounts actively using All-Tech's proprietary ATTAIN Trading System. In addition to individuals, All-Tech's clients include broker/dealers, institutions and hedge funds. All-Tech introduced the ATTAIN ECN in February 1998.

  NexTrade

Developed in the late 1990s and owned by Professional Investment Management, Inc., NexTrade was the first ECN to offer 24-hour trading to retail investors through participating broker-dealers. Its clients include mutual funds, hedge funds, market-makers, traditional broker-dealers, online broker-dealers and professional trading companies. In 1999, NexTrade officially applied with the SEC to become a registered, fully-electronic, 24-hour securities exchange. Additionally, NexTrade has a pending application to become a fully-electronic futures exchange.
